More than one-third of European businesses now employ AI to achieve their objectives.

More than a third of European companies will adopt artificial intelligence in 2023 as the use of generative artificial intelligence increases, a report commissioned by Amazon Web Services found.

In 2021, the EU’s executive authority, the European Commission, presented its vision for the year 2030. The Digital Decade will change the region so that 80 percent of the population acquires basic digital skills, 5G connections are everywhere, and 75 percent of EU companies use cloud services.

However, in 2022, only a quarter of EU companies had adopted AI, and last year’s report estimated that the European Union was at risk of falling a decade short of its Digital Decade goals unless governments focused on bridging the skills gap.

“Last year was decisive; From Malmö to Milan, the accessibility of generative AI created an appetite for experimentation among consumers and businesses,” AWS CEO Tanuja Randery told Reuters.

“The accelerated adoption of AI last year has helped Europe achieve its Digital Decade goals,” he said.

In a survey conducted by Strand Partners of more than 16,000 citizens and 14,000 businesses, 38 percent of businesses were experimenting with AI.

The report estimated the positive economic impact of artificial intelligence at 600 billion euros more, in addition to the previous estimate of 2.8 trillion euros.
